Speakers present on a variety of topics ranging from ocean researchers\, ocean authors\, ocean artists\, and ocean athletes. \n\n\n\nLight snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase. Doors open at 5:30pm\, talk begins at 6:00pm. \n\n\n\nPricing:\n\n\n\n$10  – General \n\n\n\nFREE – Members \n\n\n\nFREE – Students (with Valid ID) \n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Amber Sparks and Emily Hazelwood\n\n\n\n“The future of ocean conservation is no longer us against them\, we need to find opportunities to work together to conserve our oceans.” \n\n\n\n– Amber and Emily \n\n\n\nAmber Sparks \n\n\n\nAmber is a marine biologist\, educator\, and entrepreneur. She has a B.A. in Marine Science from UC Berkeley and a M.A.S in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation from Scripps Institution of Oceanography. In 2018\, Amber was recognized on Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the energy sector for her work developing sustainable\, creative\, and cost-effective solutions for the environmental issues that surround the offshore energy industry. \n\n\n\nAmber is also a PADI certified rescue diver and Ambassadiver. \n\n\n\nEmily Hazelwood\, M.A.S.  \n\n\n\nEmily is a marine conservation biologist\, offshore energy consultant\, and entrepreneur. She has a B.A. in Environmental Science from Connecticut College and an M.A.S degree in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation from Scripps Institution of Oceanography. As a leader and explorer\, Emily is committed to elevating the scientific understanding of our oceans in communities worldwide and she volunteers her time as a science educator at schools across the country. In 2018 Emily was recognized on Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the energy sector for her work developing sustainable\, creative\, and cost-effective solutions for the environmental issues that surround the offshore energy industry. \n\n\n\nEmily is also a PADI certified Dive Master\, Ambassadiver\, and a SCUBAPRO Deep Elite team member.

Doors open at 5:30pm\, talk begins at 6:00pm. \n\n\n\nPricing:\n\n\n\n$10  – General \n\n\n\nFREE – Members \n\n\n\nFREE – Students (with Valid ID) \n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Dawn\n\n\n\nDawn Wright (aka “Deepsea Dawn”) is Chief Scientist of the Environmental Systems Research Institute (aka “Esri”) and a professor of Geography and Oceanography at OSU\, where she has been on the faculty since 1995. Prior to joining the OSU faculty\, she was a seagoing marine technician for the international Ocean Drilling Program and a post-doctoral research associate at the NOAA Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory in Newport\, Oregon. A few years after the deepsea vehicle Argo I was used to discover the wreck of the RMS Titanic in 1985\, Dawn was presented with some of the first geographic information system (GIS) data sets to be collected with that vehicle while a graduate student at UCSB. It was then that she first became acutely aware of the challenges of applying GIS to deep marine environments. She has since completed oceanographic fieldwork (oftentimes with GIS) in some of the most geologically-active regions on the planet\, including the East Pacific Rise\, the Mid-Atlantic Ridge\, the Juan de Fuca Ridge\, the Tonga Trench\, volcanoes under the Japan Sea and the Indian Ocean\, and American Samoa. Dawn is also an elected member of both the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering.
