The House for Hermit Crab program is part of our LiteraSEA series, which examines the connections between science and children’s literature, focusing on separating fact from fiction. This 1 hour program is based on the book A House for Hermit Crab by Eric Carle. In the lab, students will compare and contrast the characters in the book with the live animals in our aquariums. Students will have the chance to hold live hermit crabs, touch animals in our Discovery Pool, explore the different habitats of the ocean, and learn about the different types of crabs and their shells.
