The Ocean Institute’s Distinguished Speaker Series, presented by the Nicholas Endowment, brings interesting innovations, real-world research, exotic experiences, and delightful discoveries to the surface through powerful presentations from an ocean of experts. Speakers present on a variety of topics ranging from ocean researchers, ocean authors, ocean artists, and ocean athletes.

Exposure to Marine Robotics technology in STEM Education creates attractive academic and career opportunities for students, and it accelerates the growth of the Blue Economy. Throughout history, technology has been a major driver of the ocean economy. Blue Robotics plays a pivotal role by providing a variety of high quality marine technology components to educational and research institutions at affordable prices, enabling innovation in STEM education and scientific study with a marine focus. Our talk features “BlueSTEAM Ahead!,” Blue Robotics’ initiative to bring ocean technology into STEM classrooms around the world.

About Kurt:

Kurt Yeager has the dream job of exposing kids to marine robotics and then watching them blossom as scientists, engineers, or any path they choose. As the company’s first business development hire in 2023, Kurt leads Blue Robotics’ initiative to promote the use of marine robotics in STEM Education globally. 
 
Originally from Michigan, after a Silicon Valley career and starting up a tech company in Monterey, Kurt became a mentor for his kids’ Underwater Robotics Competition team. Now, in addition to covering the education market for Blue Robotics, Kurt is a STEM mentor in the Ventura USD, Channel Islands High School in Oxnard, the Compton USD, and the Santa Cruz County / X-Academy underwater robotics club in Watsonville. He lives and works at home with his wife, Pam, near Monterey.
