Career & Leadership Club
This program is for high school students and aims to give them exposure to various career pathways and leadership opportunities. Working across departments, these high school students will enhance their resumes and make important contributions to Ocean Institute.
Cohorts of 6 students will develop their knowledge and skills in leadership, communication, education, teamwork, research and more as they support education and husbandry one afternoon a week for three months. Each Friday the entire club is invited to campus to conduct citizen science and support other projects on campus.
Schedule:
Starting Tuesday September 22th, 2020
Flexible arrival time 1:00/2:00pm – 5:00pm
Participants will attend every Tuesday for 3 months. Friday is optional for all participants.

Will these hours count towards high school volunteer hours?
Yes!
What if I miss a day, can I make it up that week?
To limit the number of people on campus and co-mingling we will not be offering make up days.
How many people will be in the group each day?
6 total, although they will be split into 2 groups of 3.
Covid Policies
Staff and participants must wear face masks. Ocean Institute has increased the frequency of sanitation on public surfaces – door handles, restrooms, etc. Restrooms are available on-site at the Ocean Institute prior to the cruise and upon request on the vessel. These areas will be disinfected before, during, and after use. There will be access to hand sanitizer and hand-washing stations.
The heath and safety of our guests, staff, and volunteers is and always has been of utmost importance to the Ocean Institute. We are constantly assessing the status of the State and the Orange County’s public health guidelines and making decisions related to the most up to date information from the center for disease control and OC Department of Health.
