Can California Lead the World on Ocean Climate Action?

A Talk by David Helvarg

In his presentation, author, journalist, podcaster, and Blue Frontier founder David Helvarg offers a unique perspective on changes to California’s coast and ocean in the decade since his book ‘The Golden Shore’ first came out. He’ll discuss his next book on Kelp and climate including the loss of 95 percent of northern California’s kelp forest and the documentary ‘Sequoias of the Sea’ his group is working on. He’ll talk about how they helped launch an Ocean Action Climate Plan adapted by the White House and reflect on sea otters, aquaculture, offshore wind and other challenges California now faces that he’s written about for the New York Times, LA Times, American Indian magazine and others. His public talks and Q&A offer an engaging balance of wonder, warning and wry humor.

Paperback copies of ‘The Golden Shore’ will also be available.
