The Ocean Institute’s Distinguished Speaker Series, presented by the Nicholas Endowment, brings interesting innovations, real-world research, exotic experiences, and delightful discoveries to the surface through powerful presentations from an ocean of experts. Speakers present on a variety of topics ranging from ocean researchers, ocean authors, ocean artists, and ocean athletes.

Capture the Wild: An Evening with Renowned Wildlife Photographer, Mark Girardeau
Join Ocean Institute in welcoming Mark Girardeau as he shares his stories and experiences from photographing wildlife in Southern California; including his favorite photos taken locally and how he got them, showing off some of his different camera equipment that captures images of mountain lions, whales, eagles and everything in between. Prints of Mark’s work will also be available for sale!

About Mark Girardeau:
Mark Girardeau is a nature photographer and wildlife naturalist who specializes in the local species of Southern California and Orange County. He created the Instagram account and website Orange County Outdoors to inform the public of the wildlife, events, beaches, parks, and other outdoor features the area has to offer. His work has been published internationally, including in National Geographic.
